Jack has worked in the Mendip and Somerset market for 7 years prior to joining Colston & Colston in 2019. Jack is primarily agency focused however as a Qualified Valuer and with extensive Lease Advisory experience, is able to offer clients a holistic view on property matters across a range of services.
Alex is a graduate surveyor who joined us from Strutt & Parker/BNP Paribas Real Estate in Sevenoaks, where he focussed on valuations. Not satisfied with the slow market and very much office based role, Alex decided his traits would be best utilised following the Commercial Pathway in his training to become an RICS qualified surveyor.
Mike leads our property management team and has extensive experience and expertise in property and asset management, landlord and tenant and dispute resolution. He joins Colston & Colston from Avison Young where he led the property management team across the South and prior to that spent over 12 years at CBRE leading their asset services team in the South West.

Mark is a built asset professional with over 25 years of experience as a building surveyor, project manager and management consultant in client side, government and consultancy roles. He has a wealth of knowledge having developed and managed related businesses in Europe, the Middle East and New Zealand.
MBA educated, Mark has the commercial acumen to instill confidence in clients who value his strategic and pragmatic approach. His expertise is in the due diligence, business case and advisory stages of built asset transactions, whilst as a project manager he has led the delivery of complex developments from inception to completion.
Joe works as a consultant providing a full range of commercial building surveying services in Bath and across the South West. Originally from Gloucestershire, he graduated from The University of Reading and has been working in the South West for 7 years as a Chartered Building Surveyor.
Having undertaken his training and worked in Bath for a number of years, Joe has an excellent understanding of the specific quirks and challenges Listed Buildings present and is able to work with a flexible and reliable approach to meet owner’s, investor’s and occupier’s specific needs.
Having graduated with a First Class Honours Degree from the Royal Agricultural College, Rupert subsequently went to work in London for a short time before qualifying as a General Practice Chartered Surveyor with a firm in the ‘Golden Triangle’ – the development hub of the Midlands – where he became Head of the Planning Department. Having grown up on the rural outskirts of Bath and having been to school in the City itself, Rupert has always had a vested interest in the local land and property market and returned to Bath to grow range of property consultancy services offered by Colston & Colston.
Rupert’s experience primarily lies in commercial agency and rural consultancy, development land appraisals and disposals, planning, as well as valuation and capital taxation advice. Rupert is also a qualified Fellow of the Association of Agricultural Valuers and has a broad range of experience in rural general practice including rural diversification schemes and estate management.
Alistair’s training and career development can be charted through his time working with and for some of the profession’s leading firms, including Richard Ellis and Chesterton plc. Since moving to the West Country several years ago, Alistair has held senior positions at both Crisp Cowley and Cluttons LLP.
Consequently, during his professional life as a Chartered Surveyor, Alistair has worked for the widest range of clients, from the Crown Estate and top FTSE 100 corporates, to local property developers and businesses as well as private individuals.
Alistair’s skill and experience dealing with the most challenging projects and demanding clients is unquestioned. However, what has made Alistair so sought after is his ability to understand the personal and business aspirations of his clients and to translate those ambitions into a commercial reality that actually works.
Alistair’s passion is property. When a client requests advice, then as well as providing the essential information, Alistair will also make sure that the client is able to turn that professional advice into a commercial reality.
Always a team player, Alistair is as comfortable working as part of a large multidisciplinary PFI project as he is working closely with local property lawyers and architects on a development for a small property company or landowner. Alistair’s professionalism, skill and reputation as a Chartered Surveyor is reflected in his court work as an expert witness. He has provided evidence on a wide range of cases, from fraud and matrimonial to disputes regarding lease renewals and dilapidations. Alistair was also involved in the leading Court of Appeal land contamination case of Blue Circle Industries v Ministry of Defence.
Alistair is committed to the development of his own profession and maintains close links with the University of the West of England where he is an external examiner at the School of the Built and Natural Environment.
Throughout his career Alistair has always remained at the heart of business and the decision-making process. He is an active member of the Bath Chamber of Commerce and is currently on the City and Economic Development Committee.
Alistair has been a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors for over 25 years.
Following a background working in the Stock Exchange, David started his property career in the City of London, dealing with office disposal and acquisition, at a time of unprecedented growth and excitement. He qualified as a Chartered Surveyor whilst working for GVA Grimley in the City and then moved to Cardales at their West End office.
David’s strength lies in his belief that the successful surveyor requires far more than an understanding of the value of bricks and mortar, rent reviews and break clauses. What sets David apart from his peers is his ability to identify the property most suited to the needs of his clients.
After relocation to the West Country to join Alder King, David successfully established himself as one of the most dynamic and proactive Chartered Surveyors in the region. He has advised on residential, commercial and mixed use development projects, representing property companies, housebuilders and private individuals as well as the public sector. Becoming a partner of Alder King in September 2002, David gained an expert knowledge in the planning system and in all aspects of development.
During his time at Alder King, David was appointed to co-ordinate some of the most complex brownfield and greenfield strategic sites. David quickly gained a reputation as a Chartered Surveyor with the skill and determination to deliver.
David can provide expert advice to support planning applications and has considerable experience negotiating planning agreements. David’s finely tuned technical expertise is complemented by his excellent and intimate knowledge of the South West property market together with his extensive and impressive network of local and regional contacts.
David has been a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors for over 20 years and is committed to his profession responding not only to the economic but also the ecological demands of the present and future. In particular, he takes a keen interest in sustainable living and the development of eco-friendly housing. David also sits on the South West Design Review Panel, an organisation dedicated to creating excellence for better places and communities.
Allan is originally from Shropshire and came to Bath in 2007 joining King Sturge LLP in their agency team gaining experience in the retail, office and industrial agency departments. Allan has built up a strong local network of both clients and business space occupiers.
Allan has an almost unrivalled knowledge of the local occupational market and is well regarded by Landlords and commercial property occupiers alike. Allan’s knowledge of his industry, complete integrity and extensive contact book ensures that his clients receive exceptional service from initial contact through to completion.
Allan provides specialist advice on expansion and relocation strategy to a number of retailers and business space occupiers from national multiple retailers and local operators. His ability to source premises offering ideal location and terms, on time and within budget, sets him apart from the competition.
